About the Artist

Hey, my name is Ann-Kathrin Bahr but everybody calls me AK. I grew up in Germany, where I have been officially self-employed since August 2019. As a child I did a lot of drawing, in my teenage years I moved on to digital art and web design and have always loved crafting in general. The actual beginning of my career as an Artist was a collage of 8 small paintings I did for my husband, which turned into doing a lot of commission work for friends.

After concentrating on developing my own style and theme I have started bringing together my passion for Art and Music.

Hip Hop has not only been a big impact on me, but also on my whole generation. I think I am a good example of the reach that this genre has had globally.

Just like Hip Hop, creating has always been a big factor in my life. To me it is the best way to relax and clear my mind.

Connecting these two, I started painting Artists I am personally listening to and the ones who have influenced the music I like the most.

Inspired by Rap and RnB, I work on a lot of portraits that focus on high detail with a realistic touch.

My paintings are my way of visually catching the essence of each Artist. The same way Musicians use their music to express emotions and create a vibe, I am using my art as a visual representation of that.

It is amazing to see how Hip Hop related art has grown – just like the genre itself – and gotten more and more recognition. It has passed its reputation as ‘Fan Art’ and made it possible for artists like me to get more attention.

I am very grateful for all the opportunities the Art Scene has given me so far. Not only did I get to meet some of my favorite Artists, but also have I learned a lot about how to succeed and that it takes more than just talent to build your own business.
